Definition:

"Messianic Judaism is a religious movement or sect whose adherents believe that Jesus of Nazareth, whom they call Yeshua, is both their savior and the resurrected Jewish Messiah. While Messianic Jews practice their faith in a way that they consider to be authentically Torah-observant and culturally Jewish, Jews, Jewish denominations, and most Christians do not consider Messianic Judaism to be a form of Judaism. Messianic Jews are also not considered Jewish under the State of Israel's Law of Return.

By 1993 there were 160,000 adherents of Messianic Judaism in the United States and 350,000 worldwide. By 2003, there were at least 150 Messianic synagogues in the U.S. and over 400 worldwide."

Explaining the Messianic Vision

As a Messianic Jewish Congregation in Calgary, it is our desire to make ourselves known in the Calgary community. This congregation is the result of a vision that God is placing in the hearts of Jewish and Non-Jewish believers.

Adonia, in these last days, is in the process of restoring the Messianic Vision of reaching Jewish people with the message of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus).

The birth of Israel as a nation in 1948 was a fulfillment of prophecy and the single greatest sign that our generation is the one that will witness the Messiah’s return. Yeshua Himself said in Mt. 24:32,33 that when you see the budding of the fig tree (which speaks of Israel), that this generation will not pass away until all these things be fulfilled. Many of the prophecies spoken of in the Bible could not be fulfilled until Israel was once again a nation and back in their own land.

Since the birth of Israel as a nation, the world is also witnessing the birth of Messianic Judaism. God is doing a special work among His people. He is calling us back to Himself, back to our heritage, back to our identity as Jews and back to our people.

God is restoring the Biblical practices of first century Messianic Judaism. This movement is taking on the form of Messianic Jewish Congregations. There are hundreds of these congregations and fellowships in existence today. This is a phenomena that has not been witnessed in almost 2,000 years. God is using the Messianic Movement as a means of re-gathering His people to Himself in these last days.

(Jeremiah 23:3,4)
“ Then I Myself shall gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and shall bring them back to their pasture; and they will be fruitful and multiply. I shall also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified , nor will any be missing, declares the Lord.”

As a ministry in Calgary, we see ourselves as part of this worldwide movement. Many Jewish believers in Messiah Yeshua are becoming more conscious of their Jewish identity and Biblical heritage and are recognizing that it is not in contradiction with the scriptures to continue to live as a Jew. You don’t stop being Jewish when you believe in the Jewish Messiah!

We are Jewish by birth and desire to maintain our identity, heritage and culture in obedience to Gods covenant relationship with His people. In the first century, it was never an issue among the Jewish leaders as to whether Messianic Jews were still Jews. The issue was whether in fact, Yeshua was the Messiah that the prophets foretold! This question has not changed in the past 2,000 years.

It is our vision to provide a place where Jewish people can come worship and observe their heritage as Messianic Jews within a Biblical context and identify with surroundings familiar to them and be built up in their faith.

We are also discovering that many non-Jewish believers have a growing burden to identify with Messianic Congregations and the Jewish people and learn about the Jewish roots of their faith. We see this as the modern day fulfillment of the mystery of the Messiah, spoken of by the apostle Paul in Eph. 2:24,15 - The One new Man.

"For He himself is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the middle wall of division….so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man thus establishing peace and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross.”

In our day we are witnessing the reality of this One New Man being fulfilled in Messianic Congregations.

As a Messianic Congregation of Jewish and Non-Jewish believers, we see ourselves as a bridge of understanding between the Christian and the Jewish community. Part of our vision is to help correct misconceptions in the Christian community regarding wrong thinking towards Israel and the Jewish people and to assist the Church in understanding their role regarding the Jewish people. We are also a voice against Anti-Semitism.

We encourage and welcome those who desire to identify and learn about the Jewish roots of their faith to visit our Congregation.
