Rabbi Cal Goldberg was born into a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan and his family later moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he grew up. After High School, Cal decided to go to NAIT for Marketing Administration to pursue his goals in Hotel Management. However, in 1973 Cal came to faith in Yeshua as his Messiah. As a result the direction of his life changed significantly. He met and married his wife Jan in 1975 and as they embarked on their journey of faith together, they began to rediscover their Jewish heritage and what that meant in light of their faith in Yeshua.
In 1984 Cal attended Vanguard Pentecostal Bible College, formerly NBC and graduated with a degree in Theology. In the same year he and Jan pioneered Beit Mashiach, the first Messianic Congregation in Western Canada. In 1994 they moved to Calgary to plant Beth Shechinah. Cal has taken over 20 Yeshiva courses in his study of Messianic Judaism and has taught numerous Messianic Foundation Courses and classes. He has spoken in Bible Colleges, and congregations across Canada and the US. Cal has also hosted several Messianic conferences across the province. Cal served as the Regional Director for the UMJC from 1993-1999 and is presently serving as the interim President of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Canada.
Cal is actively involved in ministering to the Body of Messiah on the Jewish roots of our faith and proclaiming the prophetic role of Israel and the Church in the last days. He has a deep burden to reach his people with the good news of the Messiah. Cal and Jan have 3 children, Joel, Ellice and Samuel and a granddaughter Evie. Cal enjoys a good book, early morning work outs at the gym and is a collector of interesting rocks. His weaknesses are popcorn and his granddaughter Evie.
