Home Life Groups at Beth Shechinah
There are groups presently meeting and we are hoping to begin more. If you would like to be part of one in your area, please speak to the Home Group Leader.
The key to a healthy community is healthy relationships. Our L’chaim (Life) Groups are a way to connect with one another in a more personal setting where we can build healthy, supportive and caring relationships. The two-fold biblical model for building community found in the Book of Acts included the early believers gathering together for Shabbat, during God’s appointed times, as well as in smaller groups.
“The early believers, continued daily with one accord in the temple and broke bread from house to house, eating their food with gladness and simplicity of heart. Praising God and having favour with all the people … And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayer. Now all who believed were together and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods and divided them among all as anyone had need. And the Lord added to the congregation daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46, 47
What a wonderful expression of community! As a mishpachah (family) we meet together every Shabbat, and we also meet weekly in homes, reading and studying the word, praying, ministering, and caring for the needs of one another. We also encourage meeting together for Erev Shabbat suppers to break bread (challah) together as an expression of our Messianic identity and to experience the presence of Adonai.
We encourage you to consider joining one of our L’Chaim Groups!
We have some wonderful new material in our Library. Check out the Library page for more details!
Shalom everyone:
Greetings in the name of Yeshua our Messiah. This past week Israel and the Jewish community observed Yom Hashoah, Remembering the Holocaust, and next Wednesday Israel will be celebrating Yom Haatzmaut, their supernatural rebirth as a nation in 1948. These two bitter sweet days are observed and celebrated during the 49 days of the counting of the Omer until we reach the next Spring Feast of Shavuot, the anniversary of the giving of the Torah and the birth of the Messianic Community in Jerusalem 2000 years ago when the Holy Spirit was poured out with fire and power. The month of May will be an important month. We will be celebrating the Feast of Shavuot at Camp Chestermere on May 24th and be sending out a brochure with all the details next week.
Also, on May 15-17th we will be having a CMJI Yeshiva taught by Rabbi Daniel Nessim of Kehilat Tsion in Vancouver. The topic will be Jewish Christian relations. See the attached brochure. He will be addressing two important issues: Anti-Semitism and Replacement Theology.
“Ever since the so-called “Partings of the Ways” to the war of October 7, 2023, Jewish-Christian relations (JCR) have been fraught with theologically fueled anti-Judaism and antisemitism. This course will explore the history of antisemitism and the toll it has exacted upon the Jewish people, most egregiously in the Shoah and to this day.”
Our vision as a Messianic Congregation is to equip God’s people and to make us aware of the many challenges we are facing today and how to respond to them.
Blessings in Yeshua,
Rabbi Cal Goldberg
Beth Shechinah
